Family comes first at Oak Meadow

Oak meadow families and staff at NFL event

Parents are welcome partners at Oak Meadow Elementary School. The school’s recent Night of Family Learning event showcased the best of the entire community in one epic family-friendly occasion.

“Overall, parents want to deepen that partnership with us,” said Oak Meadow Family Specialist Roxana Gutierrez-Garcia. “When I think of it in terms of family engagement, they want to be collaborators with us when it comes to their child’s education.”

There were come-and-go sessions on a variety of topics, make-and-take activities, a food truck and a community resource fair. Gutierrez-Garcia takes pride in her ability to serve every family as a dual Family Specialist at Oak Meadow and Cibolo Green elementary schools. The event was a hit and is just one example of the vital role our staff plays in building bridges throughout our communities.

“This is a one-stop-shop for families to come and have fun and deepen that partnership for our kids and families. I love that we get to show all that we have to offer here at North East. We can all come together to help our kids, help each other and keep that learning going.”

Our family specialists and Family Engagement team is here to create a true connection between home, school and community. They’re always looking for new opportunities to invite parents inside our schools and inspire them to get involved in their child’s education #theNEISDway

“When I get a family who’s just not sure where to go or where to start, that’s where I step in. As much as I love to be inspired, I love to inspire others.”
