Churchill High School film students picked up several awards at the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival. An awards ceremony was held at the Tobin Center on Saturday, April 2, and was presented by BiblioTech and H-E-B. The awards ceremony was hosted by by Chicago author and contest founder, James Kennedy.

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is a video contest in which kid filmmakers are challenged to create movies that tell the entire stories of award-winning Newbery Medal and Newbery Honor books in about 90 seconds. Students from all over San Antonio could craft their videos with music, live-action, illustration, stop motion or any media they chose. The results were ingenious, artistic and often hilarious.

Holes was directed by Collin Read and retold the book as a Judge Judy episode. It was nominated for Best Sound, Best Costume, Best Visual Effects and won for Best Book Adaptation.
