KSAT students show their thanks to stellar staff!

Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) teacher Alyse Heinricks is giving. And she’s passing that trait on to her sixth grade math students in a very innovative math lesson.

She and her students compared irrational and rational numbers in order to find the best prices for turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, rolls, gravy and sweet tea.   In addition, students solved the best multi-step equation of all……Pumpkin pie + Pecan pie = a great holiday meal.

To take the lesson one step further, all KSAT students made sure the cafeteria and custodial staff knew how much they appreciate their efforts and provided them a Thanksgiving meal with the help of Erica Hanchey and H-E-B.

“The students were enlightened by this event,” said KSAT teacher Christin Herrada. “They were able to be a part of giving back to their Falcon community. They wanted to make sure those staff members knew that they knew their school doesn’t run without them and their hard work.”

The sixth grade KSAT students want to wish everyone a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving Break.

KSAT will become the Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA) next year. To learn more about that program and apply, visit neisd.net/seta
