The future of flight is looking bright thanks to artists like Krueger Middle School student Kimberly Nasser. The soon-to-be seventh grader at the Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) won 3rd place in an Aviation and Aerospace Art Contest and will be recognized during a ceremony at the San Antonio Airport on Saturday, June 11.
Kimberly’s art teacher, Nicole Macias, collaborated with KSAT Aerospace teacher Christin Herrada on the project. The contest prompt was “The Future of Flight.” More than 1,000 students from 51 schools participated.
“The entries were narrowed down at campus level and then one overall entry was chosen to represent the campus and the District,” said Macias. “We are so proud of Kimberly!”
The annual art contest is a collaboration between the Dee Howard Foundation, City of San Antonio Aviation Department and the University of Texas at San Antonio, among other local, state and national partners. It’s open to all pre-K through 12th grade students in the San Antonio area.
