Johnson orchestra makes history #theNEISDway

Join us in saying good luck and congratulations to the Johnson HS "Forza" Full Orchestra! This group will represent North East ISD and San Antonio as performers at the 76th annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago next week. This is the first time a full orchestra from the San Antonio area has been invited.

The orchestra is under the direction of Karen George and Patrick Cheney.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and our program to perform for music teachers from all over the world at this conference,” said George. “Our students really deserve this invitation and is a testament to the passion they have for making music together.”

Each year, groups from all over the world submit video and audio recordings of their concert to be considered for this incredible honor. The Midwest Clinic only invites two ensembles from each category. The Forza String Orchestra performed at Midwest in 2016, the first for any NEISD high school group, and the Johnson Band performed at Midwest in 2019.

“We’re honored and excited to showcase what the Johnson Full Orchestra can do at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago,” said Tristan Stout, Johnson senior and Orchestra Officer.

Congratulations to all of the students and teachers involved in this tremendous achievement!
