Johnson students earn 3 awards at BexarFest

A young person stands by a safe place signBexarFest pairs high school students with San Antonio non-profit organizations and challenges each team to create a three-minute feature video highlighting the program. Johnson High School Film and Photography students picked up three awards for their video regarding a topic as serious as it is relevant.

“Our students went above and beyond the call in tackling a very serious and heavy topic for their non-profit, Ransomed Life,” said Bianca Pitman, Johnson Photography teacher. “This non-profit educates our youth about sex trafficking. Their mission is to make people more aware of the bait and hook tactics used by predators.”

The group took great empathy and care to write, storyboard, film, edit and develop the video and still photography for this project. As a result, Johnson won three awards at BexarFest: Best Photography/Photo Collection, Most Creative and Best Storytelling.
