A night to remember

North East ISD Summa Cum Laude students will graduate from high school with 100+ grade point averages. It’s an incredibly impressive feat that deserves special recognition – not just for the students, but also for the educators who helped get them there.

This spring, each NEISD high school will host a celebration to honor these exceptional students and the teachers they want to thank for helping them along their journeys.

Johnson High School will celebrate more than 200 Summa graduates during its ceremony on Monday, March 28.

Johnson senior Ashley Brown chose to honor her science teacher, Elisa Compton.

“Mrs. Compton has been one of the most passionate and dedicated teachers I have ever had. I remember during the hybrid school year she would stay at school all day and night to film our labs for us. One billion “thank yous” could not suffice in thanking her for how much she has inspired and motivated me, but I will continue to try. Thank you.”

Alejandro Quetzeri opted to celebrate his Japanese teacher, Dr. Yuka Kato.

“Kato-Sensei is diligent, open-minded, supportive, and an extraordinary instructor who I’m indebted to. She constantly tries to find ways to improve her teaching, listens to, and utilizes student feedback. She is extremely enthusiastic about teaching and has made my four high school years delightfully amazing.”

Many more heartfelt tributes will be shared this evening inside the campus auditorium. Johnson will hold a reception at 6 p.m. and the ceremony at 7 p.m.
