Why Ana Sosa loves cooking for the 'customers'

North East ISD's dedicated cafeteria staff and School Nutrition Services team work tirelessly to serve more than 50,000 meals daily to our students and staff. National School Lunch Week is a chance to highlight the crucial role workers like Ana Sosa play in shaping the lives of our students.

Ana has served NEISD’s big kids and little kids. She is currently a Food Service Assistant at Jackson-Keller Elementary School and previously worked at Madison and Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) high schools.

She took a break after having triplets and is now happy to be back with NEISD this year. The thing that brought her back was the relationships and support she felt during her pregnancy.

“I felt super supported during my pregnancy with the triplets. It was important that I was productive while being aware that I was pregnant. All of the staff were really supportive of that. I wanted to go where I felt comfortable and because of my experience, it made me feel comfortable coming back.”

Ana loves what she does and so do her customers – our NEISD students. Her favorite meal to make is orange chicken and fried rice and the nachos are a crowd favorite for kids of all ages.

“The kids are our customers. They’re so cute and they’re big characters. That’s the best part of the job, when they say thank you.”

Join us in saying thank you #theNEISDway during National School Lunch Week, Oct. 10 – 14.
