Harris Hawks lead NEISD's December board meeting

Joshua and Ava are recognized at the December board meeting

Two outstanding students from Harris Middle School gave the invocation and pledge of allegiance at the regular meeting of the North East ISD Board of Trustees on Monday, December 12.

Eighth grader Joshua Najera delivered the invocation. Joshua is an honors student who participates in drama, choir, art and athletics. He has participated in several of the Harris theater productions and speech festivals over the years and even had a solo in last week’s holiday choir concert.

Joshua was joined at the meeting by his parents, Milena and Fernando Najera, and his sister, Abril Najera.

Seventh grader Ava Chiem led those in attendance in the pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags. Ava is an honors student and member of the Harris choir. She also played volleyball and was one of the first students to sign up for the new dance class this year.

Ava was joined by her parents, Cathy Rodgers Chiem and Kenneth Chiem, and sister Julienna Chiem.

Way to go, Joshua and Ava!
