Some people know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. Audrey Trevino never hesitated to enter the education field. She was raised in a family of educators so continuing that tradition just made sense to her.
“It’s always been teaching. I don’t remember ever wanting to be anything else. I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
It turns out, North East ISD is where she was meant to be. She did her student teaching at Stahl Elementary School and accepted a teaching position at Castle Hills Elementary School, where she spent five years. She then moved to Northwood Elementary School, where she has been for the past 24 years.
She’s taught nearly every elementary grade level and now she’s impacting both students and teachers in her role as an Elementary Targeted Support Teacher.
“I’m really honing in on the data and focusing on closing gaps in every grade level,” explained Trevino. “I think that being in the classroom for so many years really prepared me for this because I’ve seen a little bit of everything already. I’ve gotten to know all the kids really well, so that helps me know what they need.”
Northwood means a lot to Audrey. Her kids went to school there and are proud products of NEISD. It’s a tight-knit community where everyone on campus and in the community works together to put children first #theNEISDway.
