Castle Hills students lead NEISD board meeting

Castle Hills students with Dr. Maika and boardThe North East ISD Board of Trustees regular meeting for August came to order with the assistance of two outstanding Castle Hills Elementary School students.

They were introduced by their proud principal, Betsy Asheim.

Josephine Maldonado is a straight-A, fifth-grade student at Castle Hills. She was joined in the board room by her parents, Susannah Fearno and Efren Maldonado. She loves the arts and has performed in two of the school’s plays, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Castle Hills is a Leader in Me school that embraces the 7 Habits. Her favorite habit is “Win-Win.”

Josephine led those in attendance with an inspirational poem.

Jacob Winn is also a straight-A, fifth-grade student at Castle Hills. He was joined in the board room by his parents, Audra and Ronald Wynn, and his brother Clayton. Clayton is a seventh grader in DATA at Ed White Middle School.

Jacob is in the Hyper-Accelerated Math (HAM) program. He loves baseball and has also performed in school plays. His favorite habit is “Synergize.” He led those in attendance in the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.
