On Monday night, the North East ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the 2023 – 2024 traditional school calendar.
Trustees were presented with two options: Calendar A and Calendar B. Calendar A was approved as the official selection.
The first day of school in the 2023 – 2024 school year will be Monday, August 14, 2023, and the last day of school will be Friday, May 31, 2024.
In December, each NEISD campus was provided two calendar options so the principal could cast a vote on behalf of the campus. In total, 86% of staff voted in favor of Calendar A. The District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) also met to discuss feedback and make a calendar recommendation. This council is made up of NEISD teachers, administrators, parents and community members.
NEISD also held two Virtual Information Sessions on Jan. 4 and 5 regarding the 2023 – 2024 calendar options for parents to attend and provide feedback.
Calendars for our extended-year campuses, including Larkspur, Jackson-Keller, Serna, Castle Hills and the Academy of Creative Education (ACE), will be brought to the Board for approval in February.
