If you want to know what makes a good teacher, just step inside Catherine Moreno’s third grade classroom at Camelot Elementary School. Her energy, devotion and connection to her students is undeniable.
All of this and more makes her an undeniably great representative for North East ISD as the 2022 - 2023 KENS 5 EXCEL Award winner. KENS 5 Anchor Sarah Forgany and KENS 5 partner Credit Human recently surprised Moreno in class and presented her with the EXCEL Award and a check for $1,000.
Moreno was shocked and honored to be recognized. When asked what she loves about her job, there was only one answer – her students.
“My favorite part is the light bulb moments when you’re working with the kids,” said Moreno. “I love when things click with them. And I love getting to know about their life. I want them to know that I care for them, and I truly want them to succeed. They’re the best part of my day.”
Moreno is also a proud new mom and the reigning NEISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, once again!
