WATCH D.O.G.S. is an innovative program of the National Center for Fathering focusing on prevention of violence in our nation’s schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures. The goal is to have men spend at least one day a year at the school to be an extra set of eyes and ears, and to be a positive male role model.
Who are WATCH D.O.G.S.? Fathers / Father-figures, Step Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Brothers (21 or older), Teacher’s family (sons, husbands, fiancé), Civic Organizations (Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.), Civil Servants (Police, Fire), or Corporate Partners.
WATCH D.O.G.S. benefit in many ways. WATCH D.O.G.S. get a glimpse of students’ everyday world, gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they can have on students’ lives (academics, self esteem, social behavior), and receive smiles and high fives in the hallway.
HOW TO BE A HERO OF THE HALLWAY
Make sure you're an NEISD approved volunteer. For the safety of our students, NEISD requires all volunteers to submit a Volunteer Criminal History Record Check form before volunteering on any campus. Please plan ahead and complete the form as early as possible, as this may take a few days. When you check in at school, please bring your Driver's license or ID.
NOTE: If you applied to volunteer during previous school years (and were approved) you do not need to re-apply to volunteer for the current school year. The volunteer program will automatically resubmit your background check every 2 years. There is no need for you to reapply. If you do not volunteer within a 12-month period, your account may be inactivated.
