    • 1st Grade Animal Inquiry Unit.
    • 1st grade picked an animal to research on PebbleGo and used Chatterpix to make their animal tell facts about itself. Students found out what the animal looked like, where they lived, what they ate, what their life cycle looked like, and other interesting facts. Students then posted their creations to Seesaw for their parents to see.
    • 2nd grade researched a country of their choice using PebbleGo, CultureGrams, and books from the library. Students used the information from their research to create a video where they talked about the country and recommended that travelers visit there.
    • The librarian read the Texas 2x2 book, Poem in My Pocket to kick off National Poetry Month. The librarian used the book to discuss rhyming, structure, rhythm, tone, and feeling. The 3rd-5th graders worked in pairs to create a poem using Google slides. The Prek-2nd graders made an acrostic poem with their teacher’s last name as a group and then used the word SPRING/PRIMAVERA to create another poem.
    • Our Pre-K-2nd graders participated in makerspace activities this year, which included using the robots Dot and Dash, Ozobots, and Ollies. They coded these robots to perform specific commands and to move around the library.

    • 5th Grade exploration of gravity, lasers, and mazes.
    • The librarian co-taught a lesson with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers where students could explore stations about gravity, lasers, and circuits. Students could also read about different makerspace activities by reading books from the library in one of the stations. This station exposed students to some of the books we have available in the library and supported their curiosity and the curriculum.
