David Christie recognized with KENS 5 EXCEL Award

Johnson High School students in David Christie’s World Geography class make connections to the world around them every day. His natural talent for making current and historical events relevant for his students makes him a more than worthy winner of the 2021 KENS 5 EXCEL Award.
“I’m honored to represent North East ISD,” said Christie. “I’m speechless, really. Thank you so much for recognizing me.”
Christie is a product of North East ISD. He grew up attending Coker Elementary School, Bradley Middle School and Churchill High School. He’s been teaching at Johnson since 2014 and his impact has been felt by students and staff ever since.
“We always knew the gem we had in our social studies department but he continues to amaze us,” said Sara Moseley, Assistant Principal at Johnson. “We’re very proud of Mr. Christie and we’re so happy for him to be recognized this way.”
Credit Human and KENS 5 joined together in 1999 to recognize local public school teachers for the differences they are making in the classroom and beyond. Each year, one teacher from each of the 19 area school districts is honored with a $1,000 check from Credit Human.
Congratulations, Mr. Christie!
