Defense contractor taps KSAT students for a big presentation

North East ISD’s Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) students recently got the opportunity to work with large defense contractor Computer Applications Corporation International (CACI).
City leaders asked students from the Advanced Principals of Applied Engineering class to Port San Antonio’s Building Future’s 2022 Connecting Worlds Convention to help present CACI’s technology that can manipulate critical systems throughout a city.
The CACI technology was connected to an extremely complex Lego system which gave students one more level of excitement for this unique learning opportunity. They also got to work directly with industry leaders and present to decision-makers in San Antonio.
“It helped me learn to approach people and carry a conversation with someone I did not know, as well as how to be professional with it,” said KSAT eighth grader Sonora.

KSAT is NEISD’s oldest middle school magnet program, but it is giving students next-generation opportunities. Students earn high school credit through many of the classes offered, preparing them for future success.
“In this advanced Principles of Engineering class, we provide multiple opportunities for our students to engage with the STEM community and industry to practice their professionalism and presentation skills,” said KSAT teacher Tracy Thomas. “It is amazing how excited they are to teach others!”
