Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School culinary students got a little extra help in the kitchen today. Students from the North East Transition Services (NETS) program stopped by to learn from the best and see what it takes to run a kitchen during a busy lunch service.

NETS offers NEISD students with disabilities who have completed their high school program support transitioning to life after high school. NETS students learn life-skills and self-advocacy. NETS students also work with community business partners to get job training and experience.

LEE culinary students showed the NETS students how to make sauces, pan fry chicken and prepare customer orders. LEE Culinary students often create menus for teachers to purchase lunches from, giving the students an opportunity to learn and their teachers a chance to enjoy a meal made just for them. Today’s menu options were General Tso chicken, jasmine rice, egg rolls and vegetable lo mein.

The NETS students are shadowing several days with the LEE students as they prepare to host a picnic all on their own.
