The best restaurant in San Antonio is at Nimitz
There’s a kind of hidden gem at Nimitz Middle School.
Just ask Nimitz seventh-grader Brian Ball.
“It’s the best,” said Ball.
Brian is talking about the Nimitz cafeteria.
“One of the students said, ‘This is the best restaurant in San Antonio. We love the Nimitz Restaurant,” said Nimitz Principal Jennifer Cooper.
So, Cooper set up a time for Brian and his friends to meet the cafeteria staff.
It was like they were meeting celebrity chefs.
“The Frito pie is so good, and the ladies are so nice to us,” said sixth-grader Alfredo Ramos Torres.
“To see them happy when they come through the line when they say ‘thank you,’ it really means a lot to us that we get appreciated,” said Nutrition Services staff member Guadalupe Zambrano.
Brian had one really important question for the lunch staff: what is their secret ingredient?
“A lot of love,” said Nimitz Cafeteria Manager Veronica Miranda. “We love cooking. We love what we do in our jobs. We love cooking for all of you guys—all the school. That’s the secret ingredient but don’t tell anybody.”
National School Lunch Week is a week-long celebration held annually and is sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
Thank you, Nimitz cafeteria team, and the entire NEISD School Nutrition Services staff for all you do for the kids.
