Castle Hills students selected to lead NEISD board meeting

Elliot and Noah hold certificates with Board and SuperintendentTwo outstanding students from Castle Hills Elementary School led the North East ISD Board of Trustees regular meeting on Aug. 23. Before NEISD leaders and community members gathered to discuss District business, Elliot Smith and Noah Padilla led those in attendance with an invocation and pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags.

Elliot was joined at the meeting by her two parents, Mishel and Jason Smith. Elliot is the Battle of the Books Captain and is a Hyper Accelerated Math student at Castle Hills. She is also in the choir and a member of the Safety Patrol. She read a poem for everyone entitled “Don’t Quit.”

Noah was joined by his mother Marina, who serves on the PTA board, father Michael and younger sister Marilyn, who is a fourth-grader at Castle Hills. Noah is a model fifth-grade citizen, recently attending a summer military camp. He led everyone in the pledge.

Both were introduced with high praise by their principal Betsy Asheim.
