Planning for the future made easy at NEISD

Meghan Myers holds #theNEISDway sign“It's fun because I’m working with kids on what they're going to do after high school – this is their future.”

Meghan Myers is a CCMR Specialist at Madison High School. CCMR stands for College, Career and Military Readiness. Her role, by design, focuses solely on the many decisions that parents and students must make while planning for life after graduation. CCMR Specialists are so important the District decided to create a position at every high school in 2020.

“My goal is to help every single kid find something they’re good at or enjoy and figure out a plan to make that happen after graduation,” said Myers. “We all want what’s best for our kids so to be able to play a role in helping them plan their future is really special.”

Myers is a proud product of North East ISD. She graduated from Churchill High School and worked as a teacher and counselor at several elementary, middle and high school campuses in the District before stepping into the CCMR Specialist position. She manages everything from scholarships to application deadlines, grants, loans, certifications, resume writing and more.

Previous experience showed her exactly what students and parents are looking for as they navigate the many colleges, programs and career options before them. Myers recommends that families of all ages attend College Night Wednesday, Nov. 17, inside Littleton Gym at Blossom Athletic Center. With representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities in attendance, it’s a good way to weigh your options. And if you need help filling out financial aid forms, help will be available next door at Piper Bass Memorial Student Center.

“In addition to having college representatives there, we’re also going to have financial aid sessions, which I really hope families take advantage of,” said Myers. “FASFA can be daunting so we’ll have advisors there to sit down and actually do it together.”
