MacArthur Saxophone Ensemble to perform at TMEA Convention
The MacArthur High School Saxophone Ensemble is in good company. The group has been invited to perform at the 2022 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention. Only a handful of high school ensembles are selected to perform at one of the largest conventions in the country.
MacArthur Assistant Band Director Alexia Beasley is a saxophone player herself. She’s extremely proud to see the ensemble’s hard work pay off.
“They are a very dedicated group of musicians and I'm really proud of the extra effort and incredible commitment they've made to this group,” said Beasley. “Some of my favorite and happiest teaching moments were working with those 11 students who loved learning about playing the saxophone.”
The ensemble submitted a recording with several pieces of music they worked on throughout the spring semester. They faced some tough competition from talented musicians across the state. Being selected to perform at the TMEA Convention is an incredible honor. Beasley says a lot of hard work went into preparing for the submission, but it was also a lot of fun for everyone involved.
“I love teaching the students in our program. We always seem to find the perfect balance of having fun and making many funny memories, but also rehearsing and performing at the highest level of excellence that we can.”
The MacArthur Saxophone Ensemble will perform for TMEA members at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in February. Congratulations!
