Hello, Las Lomas Lions! My name is Elsa Wenzel and I am thrilled to be a third grade teacher at Las Lomas! It is my goal to help your child reach beyond their potential in all areas of academic and social-emotional development. I can't wait to help your child "Lead with a ROAR" by developing lifelong habits of success.
Ever since I was a little girl, I pretended to be a teacher. I feel so blessed to have pursued my passion and obtain a teaching degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have taught in Texas school for 11 years. (Kindergarten, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade). I have also been a reading specialist and had the opportunity to present math, reading, and writing staff developemnt at the campus and district level.
During my time as classroom teacher I have been selected by my peers as "Campus Teacher of the Year", three times. Two times, I went on to represent my district as "District Teacher of the Year". I'm honored to represent Las Lomas as Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year.
After 9 years of teaching, I became a stay-at-home mom and volunteered in our community. While a member of our Stone Oak community I received "Honorary Lifetime Member" from Hardy Oak PTA for my contributions to our community.
I'm SO excited to be back in the classroom doing what I love. I hope to encourage, motivate, challenge, and nurture every one of my students on a daily basis.
When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family, reading, cooking for others, and tidying messes around our home. My husband and I have been married for 19 years and we have twin 10th grade daughters who are our most precious blessings. We also have three cats and a dog named Hermione.
I'm looking forward to working closely with you as we partner to make this a memorable and EXTRAORDINARY year!
