Hello! I prefer to be called Ms. Jag. I am so excited to work at STEM Academy here at L.E.E. HS. This is my first year here and my 3rd year as an academic teacher. I was a dance teacher for 10 years before I began teaching in the academic setting. I was born and raised in San Antonio and have a love for our city skyline. The Tower of the Americas holds a special place in my heart. My alma is Arizona State University - GO SUN DEVILS - via the Starbucks Scholarship (a program I highly recommend for working students). My passion for teaching comes from my own desire to be a life-long learner and my love of working with amazing students (all students are amazing!). I am a big fantasy and science-fiction fan and in my free time I love to read as many books as I can get my hands on. I enjoy spending time with my fiance and our 3 furry children (2 dogs and a cat). We are avid outdoor enthusiasts as well and spend our time hiking, biking, and camping.
This year I am teaching PreAP Precalculus and GT Precalculus as well as AP Statistics. I am a flipped classroom where the expectation is that students do their learning at home (via online videos or note sets) and practice the mathematics in class (via activies and assessments). I believe that students achieve success in math courses if they are given more opportunities to practice in the class with a teacher present to bridge any gaps in learning. I have seen major success in flipping my courses and look forward to working with the wonderful students at STEM this year.
