Mr. McCoy

Hello!

My name is Tommy McCoy, I am from El Paso, Texas. I have been teaching social studies for two years and this year will be my first in the San Antonio area. I am super excited to start my first year in NEISD with the Driscoll community! For the 2019-2020 school year I will be teaching Texas History.

I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelors degree in History with a minor in education. I am fortunate to have represented such an amazing university by competing in Division I Track & Field with a scholarship. My events were the 400 meter hurdles and the 4x4 relay. I lettered as a sophomore and represented the Miners as a team captain through my Jr. & Sr. years. In high school I competed at the 2012 Texas 4-A State championships, I placed 3rd in the 300M Hurdles with a time of 37.76 (El Paso Parkland H.S School record).

I plan to continue my education and pursue a masters degree in educational technology. Those who know me well, know that I am a huge fan of up and coming tech. I try to incorporate as much technology as I can into learning, it is our future. My previous experiences with STEM include: First Lego League coach, TSA (Technology Student Association) Co-Advisor, and was a certified Microsoft Minecraft Lead educator in my last district.

My hobbies outside of education consist of running, skateboarding, working on cars, and video games. I am always looking for new positive experiences in life so I seek the thrill of new activities!

I am a huge Star Wars and Marvel fan. I once completed the 26 hour marathon for Star Wars episodes 1-7 at an AMC movie theatre back in El Paso. I named my dog Luke after Luke Skywalker, he's my best friend and the cutest dog in the world.

I will be coaching football, track and basketball this year. Please ask me about these sports! We would love to have your child out here and representing Driscoll M.S!

Thank you for stopping by my webpage, I look forward to meeting you all and to an amazing year of fun and learning!
