Transportation

NEISD Transportation provides shuttle busses from all seven comprehensive high schools for students to participate in CTEC coursework. Upon the completion of each CTEC class, shuttle buses will return students to their comprehensive high school. Students may utilize their own transportation methods, provided they meet NEISD and CTEC requirements. Parents/guardians may drop and pick up their student before and after school. Students participating in Aerospace coursework must provide their own transportation to attend class at Hallmark University, College of Aeronautics, however, NEISD will provide bussing for students to return to their high school after class.

When are Classes Offered

Classes are offered three times each school day to permit flexibility in a student’s schedule. Students who attend CTEC during the early or late class may need to arrange for alternate transportation plans in order to participate. These students will not be able to rely on school bus between the high school campus and student’s residence due to shuttle bus departure times.

From ATA to CTEC

The Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is the new name for what used to be known as the Automotive Technology Academy (ATA). ATA first opened its doors for the 2006-2007 school year. Prior to 2006, only four high schools offered coursework in Automotive Technology: Roosevelt, Madison, LEE, and Churchill. The NEISD School Board's vision was to create a state of the art, stand-alone automotive magnet program that would provide access to all high school campuses while efficiently utilizing district funds, promoting interest in the automotive field, and challenging students to become lifelong learners. Today CTEC has expanded and now also includes programs in Diesel Technology, Construction/Carpentry, Electrical Systems, HVAC, Plumbing, Welding, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nurse Aide, Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Pharmacy Technician while maintaining the tradition of excellence created by ATA for more than a decade.
