Mr.Cabrera

     Mr.Cabrera is the Director of Bands at Garner Middle School. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and is certified to teach EC-12. Mr.Cabrera graduated from the University of Texas-San Antonio. While at UT-San Antonio, Mr.Cabrera performed as Principal and Section Trombone in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and was a section player in the jazz band. He studied tenor trombone privately with acclaimed trombonist and curator Steve Parker. Mr.Cabrera attributes his passion for brass pedagogy, music education and orchestral trombone playing to his first trombone lesson teacher and personal hero, William Peter Kline from San Antonio College. Mr.Cabrera teaches Percussion, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba and Saxophone beginner band classes. He is the Director of the Symphonic Band and assists with the Concert band. 

     Previously, Mr.Cabrera was the Assistant Band Director for four years and led the Garner Non-Varsity Band to their first UIL Sweepstakes in school history. Prior to his arrival at Garner, he started his career as the Director of Bands at Somerset High School and Savannah Heights Intermediate in Somerset ISD.
