Ms. Amy Kelley
Amy Kelley received her Bachelor's degree magna cum laude in all level music education from Texas State University in 2005 and is entering her eleventh year teaching for the 2018 – 2019 school year. Most recently, she was the choir director at Jose Lopez Middle School for 4 years where she annually led 250 students in the choir program to a UIL sweepstakes award. Prior to that, she was the assistant choir director at Barbara Bush middle school, and helped maintain an annual enrollment between 250 – 280 students who she also led to UIL sweepstakes award. Ms. Kelley is excited to be teaching choir at Chester Nimitz middle school and leading them towards the same UIL outcome. Her classes include the beginning choirs, intermediate girls choirs, the advanced girls and boys choirs, and the seventh and eighth grade girls pop ensemble.
While at Texas State, Ms. Kelley served as the National Secretary/ Treasurer for the Music Educator's National Conference (MENC) Collegiate Chapter of Texas. Her current professional affiliations are the Texas Music Adjudicator’s Association (TMAA) where she travels across Texas providing UIL ratings to other choirs in Texas, the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA), the Texas Choral Director's Association (TCDA) and the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA). Ms. Kelley is also a past middle school vocal chair for Region 12, and also was a teaching assistant at the University of Texas at San Antonio for organic chemistry from 2016 – 2018.
