Mrs. Diana Riechel-Bean

I was born in Bogota, Colombia and I was adopted by an American family when I was 4 years old.  I went to elementary school in New Jersey but then moved to Michigan where I finished grade school and went on to college at Oakland University.  I graduated with a BA in Communications with a minor in Spanish.  I also played tennis all four years of college.

I taught tennis lessons to children and adults most of my career but then I decided that I wanted more out of my profession and decided to receive my teaching certification in Special Education.  After teaching at the elementary level, I realized I missed tennis too much and decided to take my career futher by teaching High School and coaching as well!!

I started teaching at Longs Creek Elementary as a Special Education Assistant for one year and then was blessed to become a Special Education teacher at Olmos Elementary School.  I have been with NEISD for 5 years and I have enjoyed teaching the students so very much. They have taught me so much and I am grateful for what I have learned from them.  As I continue my educational path at Madison High School, I know I will learn  even more from not only my High School students but all the High School athletes as well.

My husband and I were married over the summer and we had a wonderful honeymoon in London and Paris.  We watched Wimbledon for 3 days and it was definitely the highlight of our trip!

My 13 year old son who attends the STEM program at NIMITZ Middle School and he wants to be a meteorologist when he grows up and is in honors band.  My step daughter enjoys playing volleyball and my step son loves playing percussion in band.

I love spending time with my husband and our 3 kids. On my free time, I love to play tennis, watch tennis and eat lots of  healthy foods!

I look forward to continuing my journey here at Madison HS as a Special Education teacher and as the Head Tennis Coach!
