Miss Vannessa Williams

Hello FOURTH grade!!

My name is Vannessa Williams and this will be my fourth year teaching, and my fourth year at the Ranch!  I went to UTSA and obtained my teaching certification after graduating from Baylor University with a BA in International Studies in 2014, Sic’Em Bears.  Baylor University is just 3 hours away from San Antonio and I visit whenever I have the chance.  Waco is now known for Magnolia Silos/Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gains, and yes I have been there!

I enjoy outdoor activities, Baylor football, MLB, a crisp ice-cold Coca-Cola, and traveling in and outside of the United States with family and friends.  I have a fat cat named Bali, a rambucious Dachshund name Lasso, an older brother who lives in Maryland, and a little sister who graduated from Texas State with a degree in history, hoping to go to optometry school next year.  I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA until I moved here when I was 16, but I consider myself a Texan now, even better, a Texas teacher!

I can't wait to share my love of teaching with all you sweet kiddos!  Two of my favorite subjects growing up were social studies and reading, an I am happy to say that writing has joined my top two favorite subjects too.  I hope to spread my love in all three subjects to my students and globally teaching around the world one day.  Growing up I enjoyed reading Junie B. Jones, Harry Potter, and mystery series.  Let the school year  begin!

  • Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing

by Judy Blume Year Published: 1972

We are currently closing our day out with this read aloud as a grade level!  Students are welcome to buy a copy to follow along during Zoom, but it is not required.

Life with his little brother, two-year-old Fudge, makes Peter Hatcher feel like a fourth grade nothing. Fudge is actually a tiny terror in disguise, causing mischief everywhere he goes. Whether Fudge is throwing a temper tantrum in a shoe store, smearing mashed potatoes on the walls at Hamburger Heaven, or trying to fly, he”s never far from trouble. He”s an almost three-year-old terror who gets away with everything, and Peter”s had it up to here!

When Fudge walks off with Dribble, Peter”s pet turtle, it”s the last straw. Peter has put up with Fudge for too long. Way too long! How can he get his parents to pay attention to him for a change?
