Miss Vannessa Williams

Hello FOURTH grade!!

My name is VaNNessa Williams, this will be my fifth year teaching, and my fifth year at the Ranch!  I went to UTSA and obtained my teaching certification after graduating from Baylor University with a BA in International Studies in 2014, Sic’Em Bears.  Baylor University is just 3 hours away from San Antonio, and I visit whenever I have the chance.  You may know of Waco because of Magnolia Silos/Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gains, but Waco was pretty great before that too, like the Dr. Pepper Museum and Class C Zoo right on campus!

I enjoy outdoor activities, Baylor football, MLB, a crisp ice-cold Coca-Cola, and traveling in and outside of the United States with family and friends.  I have a fat cat named Bali, a rambucious Miniature Dachshund name Lasso, an older brother that lives in Maryland who works in education, and a little sister who graduated from Texas State with a degree in history who's now in optometry school here at University of the Incarnate Word.  I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA until I moved here when I was 16, but I consider myself a Texan now, even better, a Texas teacher!

I can't wait to share my love of teaching with all you sweet kiddos!  Two of my favorite subjects growing up were social studies and reading, and I am happy to say that writing has joined my top two favorite subjects too.  I hope to spread my love in all three subjects to my students and globally teach around the world one day too.  Growing up I enjoyed reading Junie B. Jones, Harry Potter, and mystery series.  Let the school year begin!

Restart will be our beginning/end of the day read aloud to kick off the 2021-2022 school year!  Check out the preview below!

Chase's memory just went out the window.

Chase doesn't remember falling off the roof. He doesn't remember hitting his head. He doesn't, in fact, remember anything. He wakes up in a hospital room and suddenly has to learn his whole life all over again . . . starting with his own name.

He knows he's Chase. But who is Chase? When he gets back to school, he sees that different kids have very different reactions to his return.

Some kids treat him like a hero. Some kids are clearly afraid of him.

One girl in particular is so angry with him that she pours her frozen yogurt on his head the first chance she gets.

Pretty soon, it's not only a question of who Chase is--it's a question of who he was . . . and who he's going to be.
