Mrs. Lauren Lichte

Hello, my name is Lauren Lichte (pronounced like "light") and I am ready for another great year as a counselor at Encino Park. I have been in education for 9 years now and I have loved every minute of it. I received my Bachelor's Degree in EC-4 at the University of the Incarnate Word. I joined Comal ISD shortly after graduating and taught 3rd and 4th grade. In 2015, I decided to pursue my passion and become a school counselor. I happily joined the NEISD family last year and this is my 2nd year as the counselor at Encino Park!

In my free time, I spend every minute I can with my beautiful daughter. Madelyn is a sassy 2 year old and my husband Chris and I are absolutely in love with her and the amazing little personality she has. Chris and I have been married almost 9 years now and enjoy spending as much time as we can with our families. Cooking, baking, and decorating are my favorite hobbies and I pretty much watch HGTV and the Food Network as often as I can. I love getting to know new people and I want everyone to feel completely comfortable coming to me with questions, concerns, or for guidance. Please feel free to reach out to me as often as you need!

Ms. Johna Smejkal

 Greetings Eagles!

I am Johna Smejkal and I am thrilled to join your Encino Park community! When I graduated from high school, I joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a medical technician for six years.  I loved Texas so much, I decided to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with a specialization in Reading.  It was always my desire to become a teacher.  I student taught at Fox Run Elementary and stayed there to teach fourth grade for the next four years.  I received an opportunity to open a brand new campus, Steubing Ranch Elementary, and taught fourth grade for two years.  I was ready for my next challenge and was hired to teach eighth grade reading at Clara Driscoll Middle School, where I have spent the last ten years as a Reading and English teacher. In 2015, I began pursuing a Master’s Degree in School Counseling through Lamar University and recently graduated in May 2018. Every experience has confirmed how much I enjoy working with students and collaborating with awesome school staff!  I feel so fortunate to be a part of the public educational system and I look forward to serving the Encino Park community.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  My four year old daughter, Vivian, lights up my life daily. She inspires me to do everything possible to ensure all children have a safe and caring counselor to help in any capacity needed. I am looking forward to supporting our student’s academic achievement, social and emotional learning, and help prepare them for college and career readiness.  Please stop by and say hello!  I am looking forward to meeting and greeting every one!
Sincerely,
Johna Smejkal
