Ms. Nancy Alkema, MA CHDV, Reading Resource Teacher
This will be my third year at LEE High School, and my third year as the reading resource teacher. Previously, I worked as an English teacher, a paraprofessional, and as a journalist.
I earned my first degree from the University of Utah in mass communication, news editorial with a minor in creative writing. My master's degree was in child development (education), theory and research from California State University, Sacramento. My thesis was on the relationship between sibling relationship quality and emotional regulation. My teacher certification is in English Language Arts/Reading, Special Education, and English as a Second Language.
In my spare time, I enjoy racing in triathlons, camping, and home projects. I also enjoy going to the theater, and the beach.
I have four children, my youngest will be graduating from high school this year. Two of my children have been in special education as well. One was in a behavior modification class, the other for speech services.
