A little bit about me:

First of all, I'm excited to be back at NEISD.  I love this district.  I was a paraprofessional here for a couple of years before taking my first Texas teaching job in Harlandale last year.  My very first teaching job was in California many years ago, afterwhich I spent several years taking care of my children at home. Once my children were in school full time, I began my first paraprofessional position working in a self-contained classroom for children with moderate to severe autism.  Following that position, I worked as a Teacher Associate for a full-inclusion middle school.  After moving to Texas, my first position was similar to the last -- a Special Education Assistant for collaboration classes at Harris Middle School.

As for my education, I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in mass communication, news editorial, with a creative writing minor. During this time, I worked for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Utah, and had the chance to write some freelance concert reviews. After moving back to California, I worked as a play critic for a newspaper in Fairfield. Several years later, I earned my master's in education (child development, theory and research) from California State University, Sacramento. My thesis was on the relationships between sibling relationship quality and emotional intelligence. Most recently, I earned my certification in English Language Arts/Reading 7-12 and 4-8; Special Education, EC-12; and ESL, supplemental.

As you can see, I love what I do, as I've spent most of my adult life developing my writing skills, working with children, and gaining an understanding of child development, so I can be a better teacher. Once again, I'm so glad to be back to the district I love the most, and look forward to working with my new students at Legacy of Educational Excellence High School.
