Mrs. Lisa Blom

Welcome Jaguars!

Dear Students and Parents,

The 2019-2020 school year will be my 15th year in education and my 12th year at Johnson High School!  This year I will teach English I Pre-AP and English II GT/Pre-AP; both courses provide an engaging and rigorous environment for learning and discovery through literature, discussion, creativity, and writing.  Students will also be prepared for stellar success on the STAAR/EOC and PSAT.

In addition to English-y things, students in my courses learn organizational and study strategies, communication, and interpersonal skills; these are the skills everyone needs to be successful in life. It is also important that students be active participants in their learning rather than simply recipients of information.  I encourage my students to be proactive by asking for clarification and confirmation, attending tutoring, and preparing for class each day.

High school is an exciting time to meet new people, join extracurricular activities, and learn new things; however, it can be a real balancing act.  As a teacher AND mom to two high school graduates, I understand both the challenges and joys that you will experience, and I consider it a privilege to help you along this journey. Should you have any questions or concerns, please email me anytime: lblom@neisd.net

I look forward to a wonderful year; it will be awesome!
