Why Geography is for me?
I have always enjoyed traveling and learning about new places and people. So when I was able to complete my education geography was a perfect fit.
Who am I?
Real simple, I am a down to earth person who treats the world and those that occupy its space as significant. I teach because I love to see my students make connections with concepts they might not have ever considered. I graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio a few plus years ago. I have exclusively taught Geography, this is my 19th year (11 years AP Human Geography, 14 years Pre-AP Geography & 4 years of World Geography).
I have a wonderful family. My husband is a retired teacher. We travel as often as possible. We are finally empty nesters. We have 5 amazing kids who are all successful and contributing members of society. We have 3 awesome gradbabies and are hoping for more. I am a dog person, DIY fanatic and I love college football.
Quotes: The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, its about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together. ~ Barack Obama
Human Geography students might explore just about anything having to do with cultural geography, languages, religions, development, urbanization – and patterns of how they impact and spread across different lands.
A friend stated, “It’s an increase of geographic literacy, which I think helps us to better understand and interact with the world.”
