Ms. Josephine Ferguson
I grew up as an "Army Brat," moving from station to station around the world. I was born in Belgium; lived in Okinawa, Japan for 3 years, and graduated high school while in Balboa, Panama. My family and I also did a few tours in the United States including Ft. Lee, Virginia and Ft. Hood, Texas - twice. I still remember and reflect back on my experiences growing up in different places and different countries; and enjoy bringing those stories to the classroom.
I live in the James Madison district. In 1993, I was a student at Madison before my father's military tour sent our family to Panama where I finished my high school career. Many of my family members are Madison graduates and future Madison graduates including children, siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. My daughter is a sophomore this year in the Agriscience Magnet Program.
I began my educational career at Baylor University, and finished it at UTSA majoring in History with a Certification in Teaching. This is my 9th year teaching and my 6th at Madison. I still aspire to achieve my Masters in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D. in History. I maintain high expectations for myself and my students, in my classroom and for their futures.
I am married, for the second time; and in our blended family, we have four children of various ages from 13 to 23. We also have four dogs and a large fishtank. School and work are priorities for us, but we make time for family. As a family we enjoy camping, fishing, beach trips, and playing video games together.
