Mr. Byron Campbell

WELCOME TO ROOM C132

GO BRAHMAS!!

My name is Byron Campbell and I am a father of 6 children. I love my children and want the best for them as well in their future endeavors. I take the same initiative with my students, wanting them to be the best they can be.

Our family have been transplanted here in San Antonio from New York and Connecticut respectively. I am originally from Jamaica--the country, not Queens, NY. We relocated, unwillingly, 13 years ago via the United States Air Force. We also were stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 3 years during her service time and I worked in the Department of Defense School system (DoDDS) in the elementary and high school areas, which was a very rewarding experience. My wife, now a retired, and I have made Texas our home.

I completed an M.A. in Education in 2004 (UTSA) and a Masters in Ed. Leadership along with a Principal’s certification in 2013(UTSA).

I am a special education teacher at Douglas MacArthur High School (NEISD) assisting students in the general education and special education curriculum. I have been teaching for 13 years and welcomed the career change after working in business for 15 long years. It has provided me with ample time to spend with my family.

My philosophy is that perseverance is the key to overcome any obstacle. My experiences have led me to this point of my life to make greater contributions to society and teaching has assisted to accomplish my goals.

I remember vividly the words of my high school chemistry teacher insisting adamantly that I become a teacher. I scoffed at her remarks by replying I’m not interested in her job and wanted to make big bucks to raise a family. I never realized a teacher could have such insight! I am blessed to be in this position and also truly believe my experiences have prepared me to become an effective leader, which I, in turn, transfer to my students.
