This is my third year of teaching Spanish at MacArthur High School. I graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, with a Bachelor’s in International Studies (Latin American focus) and a minor in Spanish. I received my Master’s in Diplomacy from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. I became an English and Social Studies teacher while living abroad in Colombia, and upon my return to Texas continued my career in teaching as an elementary Bilingual Teacher and then a high school Spanish and Social Studies Teacher.
I am excited to continue the Dual Language Social Studies program here at MacArthur HS teaching World Geography and AP Human Geography. Our goal is to foster student's biliteracy in the classroom which can then be transferred to a college setting and used in day-to-day social interactions. Being bilingual is an assett in today's globalized society and I want my students and their parents to recognize the importance of this skill as it plays into career choices and life decisions.
