Mr. Robert L. Beavers II
Robert is currently in his fourth year as Assistant Band Director and Jazz Band director at MacArthur high school. This is his third year running the MacArthur AP Music Theory program. Along with his school duties, Robert spends his summers teaching on the five-time DCI world Champion Santa Clara Vanguard visual team, helping develop a progressive, high-level movement program since 2010.
Robert was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and graduated from W.H. Taft high school, playing bass trombone in the Taft Raider Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. He started his undergrad at UT Arlington, and finished his B.A. in Music Education at the University of Houston Moores School of Music. While at Moores School he played bass trombone in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra, Opera Orchestra and the Spirit of Houston Marching Band.
His DCI marching performance experiences include playing baritone for Revolution Drum and Bugle corps from San Antonio, TX (2001, 2002) and seven-time DCI World Champion The Cavaliers from Rosemont, IL (2002-2006), acting as Horn Sgt. in 2006.
Robert’s summer teaching experiences include a season on visual staff with The Cavaliers (2009), and currently ten years on the visual staff with the 2018 DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps (2010-present).
