Mr. Tony Ruiz
Mr. Ruiz is in his fifth year as Director of Bands at Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, TX where he oversees the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. He also assists with the Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band ensembles as well as the Jazz program, and the Symphony Orchestra. Previously, Mr. Ruiz held the position of Associate Director of Bands at Winston Churchill High School since 2008 where both the Symphonic Winds and the Symphonic Band have consistently earned U.I.L. Sweepstakes awards under his direction. Along with the success in the area of concert band, he has also led the Jazz program to multiple best in class awards at competitions throughout Colorado, Louisiana, and Texas.
Mr. Ruiz is a graduate of Texas State University where he performed in many different ensembles and held the role of Drum Major of the Bobcat Marching Band in 2004. During this time, Tony also performed with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2003, 2004, and 2006. He has also served as a member of the brass staff for The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from 2011-2013.
His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association.
