Degrees and Certifications:

I have a Bachelorette of Science Multidisciplinary degree with a focus in biology from UTSA

Mrs. M. Teresa Hodan

The two main goals of Pre-AP and AP Biology are to help students develop a conceptual framework for modern biology and to help students gain an appreciation of science as a process. The ongoing information explosion in biology makes these goals even more challenging. Students are encouraged to focus on understanding important relationships, processes, mechanisms, and potential extensions and applications of concepts. As Maria Montesorri stated, what is a Scientist?  We give the name scientist to the type of a person who has felt experiment to be a means guiding them to search out the deep truth of life, to lift a veil from its fascinating secrets, and…has felt arising within him a love for the mysteries of nature.

I have taught at Churchill for 16 amazing years.  I enjoy working with students and building relationships with them.   Being able to observe studnets grow into critical thinkers  and problem solvers, as well as seeing their high school successes makes my job meaningful.  I hope to instill a new found love in all of my students for the excitement of life and biology, and to lead them to life long learning skills that they may share with others around them.
