Ms. Katherine Perry
I am so excited to begin the 2020-2021 school year! I will be continuing in my role as one of the 8th grade ELAR teachers for Jackson. This will be my eighth year teaching, and my fifth at Jackson. San Antonio is my hometown, born and raised. I left for a bit to attend undergrad at Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) where I majored in Creative Writing. After that I started my teaching career in the Mississippi Delta through Teach for America. It was a transformative experience and brought me into the world of education. Since I did not have an education degree, I always felt like I was missing something, so it was with a full heart and many tears that I left Mississippi and came home to attend UTSA for my Masters. I graduated in December 2019 with a Masters in Literacy, and am now daydreaming about pursuing my E.D. (but I'm not quite ready yet 👩🎓).
I consider myself a pretty big nerd and love everything sci-fi, fantasy, superhero related. I love reading, especially books I think my students would like. I also love to cook, and have recently been experimenting with chia seed pudding! It's weird and delightful!
It's going to be a different year, for sure, but as always... It's a Great Day to be a Jaguar! 🐾🐾🐾
