Ms. Gayle Toohey

Hello, my name is Gayle Toohey. This is my 3rd year teaching at Jackson Middle School; however, it is my 16th year teaching middle school overall.  Due to my husband's work, my family and I moved to San Antonio three years ago from a city about an hour west of Chicago, Illinois. My 20 year-old daughter is attending college just outside of St. Louis, MO, which is where I was born and raised.  My 16 year-old son is a junior in high school and plays on th golf and baseball teams. My 5 year-old son is attending kindergarten here in San Antonio this year. I am thankful to continue my teaching career in this beautiful city.

In my spare time, I love traveling with my family, watching all sports (especially the St. Louis Cardinals), reading, and just relaxing and playing games with my kiddos.  On any given day off of school, my family can be found at the beach, at a baseball game, or relaxing and swimming at home.  If I am not teaching children, I am spending time with my own kids and family.

I am so excited for this next chapter of my life, both with my family and in the classroom. I feel honored to be a part of the Jackson Middle School family and a teacher in North East ISD. I will strive each and every day to make your child feel at home while here at Jackson. I believe the best way for a child to learn in school is when he/she feels safe and secure and able to be him/herself. As a teacher and a parent, I understand the struggles and obstacles that a middle school child faces, both at school and on the home front. I am dedicated to make those struggles less noticeable and influential while here at school. I will do the best I can in order to make you and your child feel comfortable and welcomed. I try my hardest to make a connection with each and every student of mine. When a student feels welcomed and cared about, he/she is more motivated to want to succeed and to do his/her best.
