Degrees and Certifications:

BM Music Studies - University of Texas at Austin Performance Certificate in Viola - University of Texas at Austin Teacher Certification

Ms. Jennifer McKeeman

I am a 2014 honors graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in music education and a performance certificate in my primary instrument, viola. At UT, I had the privilege to study viola with Roger Myers and pedagogy with Dr. Laurie Scott and Dr. Robert Duke. I played with the UT Symphony Orchestra for four years as well as smaller ensembles. During summers, I have traveled to study and perform with festival orchestras at Sewanee, TN, Marrowstone, WA, and Green Mountain, VT.

From 2012-2014, I worked with the University of Texas String Project, a nationally recognized program directed by Dr. Laurie Scott to train teachers and develop young talent. I taught private and group lessons for violin, viola, cello, and bass students. At the UT String Project, I also co-directed two of the orchestral groups: the Elementary Orchestra and the Advanced Orchestra. The orchestral groups were honored with performances at the Bob Bullock Museum as well as the State Capitol. As an undergrad, I also became a certified Suzuki string instructor.

As a student teacher I was fortunate to work with some of the best orchestra directors and programs in central Texas at Ridgeview and Canyon Vista Middle Schools and at Westwood High School.

I am an Austin native, and I have enjoyed growing up and going to college in my hometown. Hook 'Em! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and exploring San Antonio.

This will be my third year as the 2016-2017 Orchestra Director at "Tex" Hill Middle School. I am excited for this continued adventure in San Antonio with the "Tex" Hill Tiger Orchestra! I look forward to the musical growth and accomplishments that the "Tex" Hill Orchestra will earn over the years to come. Go Tigers!
