Ms. Garner
Having grown up in NEISD schools, I am very proud to be serving the students and parents of NEISD as a profession! This will be my 6th year at Tex Hill, but my 14th year in education. I was blessed to open Lopez MS in 2007. During my time at Lopez, I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade Science, and was voted 'Teacher of the Year' in 2012! I took a break from the science classroom between December of 2013 to July of 2015. During this time I served Northside ISD as a Gifted and Talented Teacher at two middle schools. However, I quickly discovered that I missed teaching science, having a 'home school,' and GREATLY missed having a group of kids of my own as a classroom teacher. There is no greater calling than that of a teacher. I truly love my job, and love following my students lives well after they leave me at the end of their 8th grade year. Whether they know it or not, my students leave a mark on my heart in one way or another. At the end of the day, I'm here for one reason: I'm here to help all of the students who pass through my classroom identify their strengths and show them their potential to grow and succeed.
Aside from teaching my students at Tex Hill, I work summers, and a few evenings during the school year, as a Teacher Leader with the Teacher Enrichment Leadership Academy (TELA) at the UT Health San Antonio. This enables me to grow as an educator and network withinin the educationl community.
I look forward to the 2020-2021 school year (virtually or in-person)! It's a great day to be a Tiger!
