Mrs. Marianne White
Hello! I am so excited to be starting my 10th year of teaching middle school band and my 6th year here at Harris!
I grew up in an Air Force family that lived in many places and started playing the clarinet in the school band on Lackland Air Force Base here in San Antonio. When my dad retired, the family moved off base and into NEISD where I was privileged to have great musical experiences in the Barbara Bush MS and Ronald Reagan HS Bands. After attending summer band camp at Texas Tech several times, I knew that Tech was the only place that I wanted to go for my major in Music Education.
Though my dad, while frustrated with the demands and time commitments of high school marching band once told me that "you can not make a living playing that clarinet" (he has since retracted that statement!), I graduated with honors and a Bachelors degree in Music Education in May of 2010 from Texas Tech University. During evenings and the summers of my first few years of teaching at NEISD's Driscoll Middle School, I pursued my Masters degree in Music Education through Texas Tech, graduating in August of 2012 with my Masters in Music Education. In June of 2013, I became Mrs. White when I married my best friend, Greg White who is also a band director in NEISD at Reagan High School - we met playing in the band together at Texas Tech!
When I am not teaching, I love to run (Disney races are my favorite!) hang out with my SUPER cute shar-pei/lab mix dog, Titan, or drink tea and hang out with my mom (who still loves coming to our band concerts!). My brother, Garth, is also a talented musician who plays the bass and studies music in Austin.
In addition to teaching here at Harris, I teach an online Music Technology class through Texas Tech University, am an active clinician and presenter at Music Educator conferences across the country, and am a pursued educational technology consultant for music educators.

The best way to contact me is via email - firstname.lastname@example.org
The best part of my job is getting to make music with my favorite musicians (my middle school band kiddos!) On normal days, I am busy doing just that from early in the morning through well after school. If you need to speak with me on the phone, send me an email with a good contact number for you and I will give you a call ASAP, usually within 24 hours.
Make sure to sign up for our Remind messaging group to stay in the loop - we'll send brief reminder type messages through this system frequently (but we promise not to "blow up" your phone!) To sign up, simply text the appropriate code to the number 81010
