Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor Degree in Violin Performance UTSA Teaching Certification Region 20

Mrs. Stephanie De Santiago

I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I attended Mac Arthur high school, and then attended UTSA. I received my bachelors degree in violin performance and also received my certificate in music education. I am going into my 13th year of teaching. I taught at Ed White middle school for 4 years and now going into my 9th year at Driscoll.

Prior to my teaching job, I worked at Northern Oaks Animal Hospital for 7 years as a receptionist, assistant, and cat groomer. I also groomed cats at Cibolo Canyons Animal Hopstial. I still currently groom cats and dogs in my spare time. I am also volunteer for Austin/Alamo Boxer Rescue performing home visits for potential adopters. I have a few fur babies of my own. I have 2 boxers, Duk and Isabella, a poodle named Benjamin, and a Boston terrier named Chewy.

I started playing violin at the age of 10 in the 5th grade string program at Thousand Oaks Elementary. I was very blessed to have been guided and taught by some of the finest teachers. The teachers whom I am forever grateful for are Dorothy Wells, Jan Garverick, Gene Dowdy and my private instructor Mary Ellen Goree. I also have 12 private violin/viola students who I teach outside of Driscoll. I have been teaching private lessons for 19 years and absolutely love it. In my spare time, I enjoy playing for weddings, and other functions. I have had the privilege of being able to record on local San Antonio artist’s cd/dvds. I recorded on David Kauffmans Behold cd, Bill Gokelman’s Steal Away and George Gaytan’s Lullaby Dreams. I also am going into my third season playing with Mid Texas Symphony.

I just had my first baby Samuel Elijah on May 31, 2018. I absolutly love being a new mommy. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my amazing husband Chris and my 3 step kids Chris, Benjamin and Isabella. Yes, 2 of the dogs have the same names as the kids. That made a fun first date conversation! We love to travel, cruises, going camping and watching movies.

I am very excited for this upcoming year!!!
