Mrs. Diane Ness

Welcome to Kindergarten! I love teaching and watching the children grow and change through out the year. Kindergarten is a year of tremendous growth. I truly enjoy teaching reading and am excited to work with the children as they move deeper into the world of literacy.

I graduated from the University of Iowa and have been teaching young children for over 30 years. I am married, have 8 children and several grandchildren. Traveling with my family to see national parks and different sights during vacations is my favorite pass time when I am not in the classroom.

I believe every child has their own special set of personal gifts. I try to discover the child's strengths and needs in order to nurture their growth and development. I use a lot of small groups and stations for instruction so that each child can participate more fully. I spark the child's imagination and participation through music, art and various hands on learning activities. The joy of learning, making and keeping friends and starting to become independent are all important goals in my class.

I have taught at Wilshire for over 25 years. I take great pride in our school and try my best to help families adjust to elementary school. Kindergarten is a huge year of transitions. I am privileged to be a part of young children's lives.
