Mrs. Amanda Alonzo
I was born and raised in San Antonio and have been living in this community most of my life. I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School in 2009, and I made my way up to Aggieland the next semester. At Texas A&M University, I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in 4th-8th grade Social Studies and Language Arts. Texas A&M was one of the biggest blessings in my life because the traditions and education I experienced there were superb. I graduated from Texas A&M in December 2013 with certifications in Kindergarten-12th grade, English as a Second Language, and 4th-8th grade Social Studies and Language Arts.
As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher. I had many educators who impacted my learning and my life choices, and I knew I wanted to be that person for another young mind. I feel that my job as a teacher is to involve students in learning by making memories in the classroom, so the content and the life lessons can be applied in their future. I will encourage students in their strengths, but I will also challenge them to overcome their perceived weaknesses.
This will be my sixth year of teaching at Wilderness Oak. I have many fun ideas planned for this year, and I cannot wait for the students to be a part of them. I love this school, community, and the kids. I know this year will be great for everyone!
