Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Marisa Garcia
As a mother, I often find myself looking for opportunities to help my children become successful for the future. I recognize the individuality of my own two children, who also attend schools in our district. I am excited to be a part of Walzem Elementary as the goals are to “Transform the future” by gearing learning to each child.
I settled in San Antonio after my husband separated from the Army. The constant movements of schools took a toll on my son, as he had to make new friends and learn different teaching styles. I understand the affects changes can have on children and how difficult it may be for them. While we lived in San Antonio, I recieved my Bachelors in Interdiciplinay Studies with an ESL certification in 2013 from UTSA.
My mother raised my five siblings and me in the small town of Crystal City, Texas. Living in a single parent home had it challenges yet my mother stressed the importance of an education. My decision to be in education is to stress similar beliefs to all students. We may grow up in difficult situations but that cannot define who we are. I believe that we must nurture your child’s gifts and build on their passion to learn. We as parents are important in our children’s lives in and out of school.
I am ecstatic to be a part of Walzem Elementary. Our communication can make a positive impact on your child’s education. I want to hear how wonderful your child is and ways that we can make his/her school year much more successful.
