When I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. As I grew older and learned about other careers, I developed an interest in physical and occupational therapy. I came to San Antonio to pursue my degree in occupational therapy, however; I ended up back at my first love, teaching. As a kindergarten and special education teacher, I get to combine all those interests! These children make me smile, teach me about the important things in life, and challenge me daily to be my best.
I began teaching here at Thousand Oaks Elementary School the 2002-2003 school year. I taught kinder for 11 years before taking on the role as the ALE special education teacher. I spent 5 years with those wonderful students before moving back to kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year.
I also am a program director for Kinetic Kids for our gymnastics programs. Kinetic Kids is a program that provides sports and recreation activities for children with a variety of abilities and disabilities. I am also the gymnastics competition director for Special Olympics Texas.
When I am not working with my kids at TOES or Kinetic Kids, I enjoy running, reading, and fishing and sailing with my husband along the Texas coast.
My philosophy as a Kindergarten Teacher is to have a classroom with an individualized high-quality education that promotes a child's intellectual, social, emotional and physical development through play and thoughtful lessons. I believe every one of my students is extremely capable and they are each unique.
A child’s smile is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Thank you for sharing your ray of sunshine with me every day!
